Springy Plaids Soft Calligraphy (via Oh So Beautiful Paper)

I keep seeing springy plaids, and I don't know if it's because I've been in Portland, OR long enough or just because the blend of colors is so wonderful but I'm becoming a huge plaid fan. I'm not even sure what these plaid pieces are (not envelopes...RSVP cards maybe?) but I love them. I love them with the soft card and the white calligraphy names. *swoon.* Wonderful work by Allie and Jamie of Yours Is The Earth.

Green Valentines (via Style Me Pretty)

For some reason I'd want to turn this wedding (photographed by Christina Diane) into a Valentine's Day party where instead of pinks and reds you have light and lovely greens. (Everyone in Oregon is desperate for a little spring by February 14th.)

I can't find the name of the bride (which annoys me about wedding websites sometimes) but she is clearly a crafty wonder, and she clearly has a wonderful eye herself.

First guests would get cards where there is writing and event details on the second page. The first page is white (cream, etc) with a single heart cut out so you can see some of the writing on the page below. (Image inspiration: top left)

Next each of the guests (which because it's a dinner party means there wouldn't be that many) would have a wire wrapped name setting.  Let's say at most 8 people. That's a lot of wrist action.

The table would have wooden boxes filled with felt succulents and small rocks down the center of the fictional rectangular table I don't actually have in my house. (Time to steal my sisters! Or better yet, throw this event at her house!)

And finally, as guests leave the evening, they would have tiny button boxes (!!!) filled with goodies and they'd find those goodies on a small table with a lovely moss (astroturf/felt) display. Instead of initials it would say, "Thank you," or our last name or be a series of hearts.

Invitation Book (by IceCreamSocial)

These are the incredible work of the amazing Ice Cream Social. Their work is some of my favorite. This would be a really cool gift for a bride or someone for their birthday. Create a sleeve at the edge for sliding in dates. Option 2 is to have 12 pockets. Each pocket would represent a month and you could give the book with the pages full of cards and birthday dates. A sleeve in the front would hold stamps. A place to hold the cards and the time line for sending them.

Candle Hearts Invite

I like the idea of this but I haven't quite hit it. Too much dead space.

Modern Wedding Invite

My sister is getting married this coming July and she wants a modern wedding. My style is not modern at all so it has me thinking about modern shape and design. Here's my first attempt at playing around with modern.

Some day Zach is going to get something like this for an anniversary or a birthday. For some reason it struck me as totally strange that some day we will actually have another thing to celebrate like an anniversary. A holiday I never knew existed but suddenly will.

This doodle invite is for Parusha and Peter's wedding in South Africa. It was created by Rudi de Wet.

I love randomly placed doors. I would love to have one at ours (it's not happening :) but hopefully at some future wedding I can talk a bride into a freestanding door.

Invitations

They are so close to being done I can TASTE it! Taste what you may ask? VICTORY!

OK, I'm being a little hyperbolic but it's in my blood, literally genetic, to stop projects 80% through. So to have a giant project that feels 80% complete during its entire run was a reeeeally good workout for my brain.

Some Day People Will Officially Hear about Our Wedding

Apparently, if it's over 6 x 4 1/4, a card can't be sent at postcard rates. The RSVP cards that no one will use (statistically) are 6 X 4 1/2. So fine. I bought standard postage and am happy to smack them on. BUT the seed of doubt has been planted. What if the RSVP cards don't get back to us? So a tester was thrown in the mailbox and now we await its return. Which means more waiting. Which means those invitations I was going to gallantly finish this weekend are again on hold. Sort of like last week they were on hold. And then another step was held the week prior.

It's like dancing...only soul crushing. Who feels like figuring out bouquets?! Raise your hand! Alright. Weekend planned.

Vellum Design (by Hello Tenfold)

Vellum is a really tricky material. On the one hand, it's awesome. It has a nice feel and gives a very romantic, mysterious vibe. That said, the bugger is impossible to stick down, you know, because it's a bit transparent. So if you glue it to anything you see the glue. This is why this Hello Tenfold design (I love Hello Tenfold) is genius. Use it for the mystery...and then leave it alone.

And then there were...less

Tahdah! These are those tiny felt flowers I was talking about. And with the help of six fantastic friends and family, we got all of the main invitation inserts finished and some 30 of the outsides finished. There are like 20 steps to each. I can't believe how much we got done. Amazing all around.

Invitations: Ready, Set, Go

I think I have an invitation design. It's both exciting and a bit scary. There's excitement when there are possibilities and now that I've made a decision (with Z's approval :) the possibilities close and the reality of what we have is now the reality of what we have.

But you know, I prepared myself for this, and writing this post has helped remind me of the strategy I put in place going in. I can still ogle pretty invitations. I love invitations. I love paper and ink. That doesn't change b/c we have ours now slowly curing.

Ours will be simple and lovely and us. It will consist of stamping and ironing and fabric and paper. These are all good things, and I will only feel happy.
